About Our Facility

Burton Park is a specialized 50-bed neurobehavioural rehabilitation hospital dedicated to individuals with acquired brain injuries and neuro-progressive disorders. Our multidisciplinary team comprises experts in psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, social work, and medical care. We are proud members of the Independent Neurorehabilitation Providers Alliance (INPA).

Role Overview

As a Staff Nurse, you will collaborate within a transdisciplinary team of professionals. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in pre-admission assessments for referred patients.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments upon patient admission.
  • Developing holistic care plans in partnership with patients.
  • Creating positive risk management strategies.
  • Monitoring and evaluating individualized patient care plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Organizing and allocating resources effectively during your shifts.
  • Promoting essential living skills within a rehabilitation context.
  • Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions as agreed upon by the team.
  • Administering medications in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Upholding the NMC code of professional conduct at all times.
  • Staying informed about relevant hospital policies.
  • Fostering an environment of dignity, respect, and integrity.
  • Taking charge of the unit when necessary.
  • Communicating effectively with team members.
  • Complying with current legislation and professional standards.
  • For advanced nursing roles, you will be expected to take on greater responsibilities in the aforementioned tasks.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Providing regular supervision and ensuring annual appraisals for nursing staff.
  • Assisting in leading and evaluating the nursing team's performance.
  • Planning and deploying staff according to their competencies and patient needs.
  • Mentoring junior staff members.
  • Supporting the recruitment of unqualified personnel.
  • Ensuring thorough inductions for new and temporary staff.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • RMN/RNLD Qualification.
  • Completion of pre-registration or preceptorship.
  • Self-motivated and a positive role model.
  • Commitment to personal learning and development.
  • Experience in a similar healthcare environment.
  • Focus on patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility and self-motivation.
  • For higher-level positions, strong leadership and management skills are essential.
