KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Project Oversight

  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Local Government, and Ministry of Health to advance WASH initiatives through the WASH in Schools (WinS) framework.
  • Facilitate the capacity development of school WASH committees to effectively plan, execute, monitor, and enhance the quality of WASH services in participating schools.
  • Work in conjunction with the Country Office to ensure timely construction and upgrading of water facilities in schools involved in the project.
  • Assist in the design, planning, execution, and follow-up of hygiene promotion initiatives within the schools.
  • Support the establishment of WASH clubs in educational institutions.
  • Organize, oversee, and assess the distribution of hygiene kits and reusable sanitary products to at-risk students in the participating schools.
  • Ensure proper budget planning and logistics for hygiene promotion events, including hygiene awareness days.
  • Coordinate employee engagement opportunities for staff to participate in project activities.
  • Align project activities with other local stakeholders, both governmental and non-governmental.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) and Reporting

  • Guarantee timely execution of baseline and endline evaluations.
  • Ensure the program adheres to and meets established quality standards.
  • Submit high-quality bi-monthly progress updates and reports to donors in line with the reporting schedule and format.
  • Establish functional monitoring and evaluation systems for the collection, consolidation, and reporting of standard project indicators.

Financial Planning and Management

  • Ensure a quality and timely phased budget aligned with the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
  • Ensure program implementation meets monthly financial performance targets and annual spending does not exceed the budget.
  • Maintain excellent financial management and accountability in accordance with organizational policy guidelines.

The post holder may be required to undertake additional responsibilities within the scope of their skills and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Required: Degree/Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, or Environmental Health.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in implementing development programs with WASH interventions in schools or targeting adolescents, particularly girls.
  • Experience with donor-funded programs focused on WASH and Menstrual Hygiene Management is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based WASH interventions and best practices relevant to this project.
  • Strong knowledge of the WASH program landscape.
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, and planning abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multifaceted development program with government ministries and local partners.
  • Capacity to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with a diverse team of partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
