About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Mindful Chef Ltd. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards and accreditations from our produce supply chain.

Your primary responsibility will be to negotiate commercial agreements with suppliers of fresh ingredients, which are delivered to thousands of homes across the UK each week. You will work closely with our Technical, Operations, Kitchen, and Brand teams to source the best possible ingredients at the best price.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Excellence: Ensure we continue to deliver the highest standards and accreditations from the best in class produce supply chain, aligning with our values and brand positioning.
  • Commercial Acumen: Be responsible for negotiating the best commercial agreements with suppliers, driving gross margin improvements, and achieving significant economies of scale in overhead cost lines.
  • Supply Chain Management: Work closely with Food & Technical teams to focus on sourcing perfectly portioned packs and provide new produce/added value products from suppliers who share our values and aspire to deliver the highest standards and specifications at the best cost.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate with our COO, Legal, and Technical team to ensure strong risk management procedures are in place.
Requirements
  • Procurement Expertise: Proven knowledge and experience in food buying, with a deep understanding of category buying, preferably in fresh produce buying.
  • Commercial Acumen: Excellent negotiation skills, commercially minded, and capable of delivering results with quality.
  • Research and Analysis: A desire to deeply understand and map supply chains to interrogate cost structures and quality to release value.
  • Customer Focus: A healthy obsession with quality for the end customer.
  • Team Player: Collaboration skills supported by emotional intelligence.
  • Technical Knowledge: Good working understanding of food safety regulations.
  • Solution-Oriented: A positive and proactive problem-solver.
