We are seeking a compassionate and caring Maternity Support Worker to join our Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team at Northampton General Hospital.
Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team providing support with Fetal Medicine Clinics, BCG vaccine clinics, and Preterm Birth Clinics. As a Maternity Support Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking vital signs, urinalysis, and CO monitoring, as well as providing administrative support to the maternity team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Assist and support midwives and other healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to women and their families.
- Undertake vital signs, urinalysis, and CO monitoring, and escalate any deviations from normal ranges to the named midwife or appropriate member of the multi-professional team.
- Provide administrative support to the maternity team, including updating databases and filing clinical records.
- Communicate effectively with women and their families, and convey an approachable and professional manner at all times.
- Support women during clinical procedures and act as a chaperone when requested to do so by the midwifery or obstetric team.
- Education to NVQ level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience.
- GCSE Maths Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience.
- Commit to undertake in-house training.
- Care certificate.
- Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway.
- Previous experience of working with members of the public.
- Understanding of Safeguarding issues.
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of data protection confidentiality.
