Job Title: Maternity Support Worker - Antenatal Screening

We are seeking a compassionate and caring Maternity Support Worker to join our Antenatal and New-born screening team within maternity services at Northampton General Hospital.

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Maternity Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support with Fetal Medicine Clinics, BCG vaccine clinics, and Preterm Birth Clinics.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake vital signs, urinalysis, and CO monitoring.
  • Provide administrative support to the maternity team.
  • Participate in tracking, obtaining, and filing clinical records.
  • Update appropriate databases.
  • Support women during clinical procedures and act as a chaperone when requested.
  • Perform venipuncture or capillary blood sampling in line with national standards and local policy and guidance.
  • Assist in the nutrition and hydration needs of women.
  • Recognise and act upon abnormal events or emergencies, escalating to the multidisciplinary team through the appropriate means.
Requirements
  • Education to NVQ level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience.
  • GCSE Maths Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health care or equivalent experience.
  • Commit to undertake in-house training.
  • Care certificate.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway.
  • Previous experience of working with members of the public.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding issues.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data protection confidentiality.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
