Position Summary:

As we embark on an exciting journey to establish our new Freight Division at London Heathrow, we are seeking a seasoned Air Freight Import Specialist. This role is crucial in laying the groundwork for our ambitious growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in air import and/or export operations.
  • Prepare and submit import/export customs clearance entries with proficiency.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service excellence, complemented by a professional telephone demeanor.
  • Possess Air Dangerous Goods (DG) training; training will be provided if not already certified.
  • Execute job functions in alignment with DP World's global freight forwarding protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations.
  • Support account initiation by collaborating with sales to gather necessary documentation for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Conduct weekly audits of files to ensure compliance with estimates, profit margins, and timely invoicing.
  • Assist clients with daily inquiries related to export/import documentation to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Manage shipment irregularities and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Provide clients with comprehensive flight information to ensure seamless communication.
  • Engage with airlines to secure optimal solutions regarding capacity and cost for transportation files.
  • Prepare and execute customer quotations promptly.
  • Collaborate with DP World’s internal network and external partner agents to ensure superior service delivery.
  • Respond swiftly to any emergencies that may occur during the handling of air freight files.
  • Work closely with operations colleagues to provide support during peak workload periods.
  • Maintain accurate customer reporting as required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in air freight forwarding operations and customer service.
  • Experience in freight forwarding is essential.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the freight forwarding industry.
  • Strong execution skills with a focus on delivering results efficiently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are advantageous.

Employment Requirements:

  • Ability to provide a comprehensive five-year employment history and satisfactory references.
  • Subject to a DBS check.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Compliance with aviation regulations.
