About the Role

The Senior Practitioner/AMHP will provide social work leadership in the community mental health team, promoting the significant contribution that mental health social work makes to the delivery of mental health care.

The post holder will work closely with service users with serious and enduring mental illness, including dementia, to promote social inclusion and recovery, helping people to live as independently as possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide social work leadership in the team, maintaining close links with colleagues in Adult Social Care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to social workers, helping our social work staff identify opportunities to develop, and direct staff towards relevant learning resources.
  • Manage a limited caseload of complex cases, act as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) working on our Borough wide rota.
  • Provide guidance in relation to the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Contribute to service development to ensure that social work values are fully represented and where appropriate chair meetings, particularly in relation to safeguarding enquiries.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, with experience in community mental health and leadership roles. They will be committed to continually learning and improving the way they do things to ensure effective outcomes, valuing and respecting others' contribution, and taking ownership of their actions.

The candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with service users, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
