Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Senior Consultant in Paediatric Trauma Surgery to join a prominent healthcare organization dedicated to enhancing child health services.

This role encompasses a significant trauma aspect, allowing the successful candidate to engage in both acute and elective surgical procedures, contributing to the advancement of the Paediatric Orthopaedic care framework.

While this position is primarily full-time, we are open to discussions regarding flexible working arrangements to accommodate the needs of the candidate.

Candidates should possess either a place on the Specialist Register or be nearing completion of their training with a CCT / CESR(CP) anticipated shortly before the interview.

The position offers an attractive Consultant contract, with a competitive salary range from £100,000 to £146,000 annually.

Applicants are required to provide references covering a minimum of the last three years of their professional history. Those who have held a substantive Consultant position or a Locum Consultant role for over a year must also include their Medical Director as a reference.

Key Responsibilities

The full-time Consultant will manage their clinical duties within a structured six-week cycle. The role includes collaboration with an established trauma team, alongside specific responsibilities for patients admitted under the Major Trauma Centre.

An on-call commitment is part of the role, currently set at 1 in 6 weekends and approximately 1 in 4 weekdays.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register for the relevant specialty or nearing completion of CCT / CESR (Combined Programme).
  • Advanced Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.
  • ATLS or APLS provider status.

Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive experience in Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • Proven high-level competence in specialized paediatric trauma and orthopaedic surgery.
  • Completion of a recognized paediatric fellowship.

Desirable

  • Evidence of independent practice.
  • Experience working within a Major Trauma Centre.
