Summer Camp Operations Manager

Working Hours: 08:00-18:00, Monday-Friday (Total hours will not exceed 47.5 per week)

Salary: £798.50 per week based on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.

Reporting to: Area Manager and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff to share this commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Induction Training and oversee the preparation days prior to camp.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement Health and Safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Act as the Deputy Designated Person (DP) for Safeguarding, addressing Child Protection and safeguarding matters.
  • Maintain regular communication with Area Managers and Central Office.
  • Manage staff attendance records.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure the camp runs smoothly, including site inspections, equipment evaluations, financial tracking, inventory management, parent communications, and staff supervision.
  • Delegate responsibilities to team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Organize staff meetings to facilitate effective communication within the team.
  • Support and guide your team to ensure seamless camp operations.
  • Engage with parents and guardians as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the site and storage areas.
  • Serve as a liaison for school communications.
  • Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Participation in mandatory Senior Training events.
  • Experience in childcare environments, holiday camps, or team leadership.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Attendance and delivery of Induction Training Days.
  • Completion of annual Online Training.
  • Management of camp closure procedures.
  • At least half of the senior staff should be Paediatric First Aid trained, depending on camp size.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Adhere to Health and Safety obligations by following established procedures and systems.
  • Proactively address safety concerns.
  • Prepare for Induction training using relevant materials.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for Health and Safety at the camp.
  • Conduct evaluations for each staff member at the conclusion of their contract.
  • Report any Child Protection issues to a designated person at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed of any children with additional medical or dietary needs.
  • Administer necessary medications according to established guidelines and complete relevant documentation.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be required for swimming activities.
