Position Overview

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in our Digital Team? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join us as an EPR Programme Office Lead. This position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about digital transformation and have a strong background in programme management.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the EPR Programme Director, Programme Leadership Team, and Programme Board. Your extensive experience in programme management will be essential in overseeing the PMO functions across various strategic initiatives that involve multiple organizations. You will play a crucial role in providing governance, support, and control for the Shared EPR Programme.

By engaging with both internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the programme's success and foster strong working relationships with Trust and Programme Executive leadership, as well as programme/project managers across the shared EPR landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Programme Office Lead for a significant IT initiative that encompasses multiple related projects aimed at achieving strategic business objectives across the Trust's operations.
  • Deliver regular progress updates, addressing complex analyses and data while identifying issues that require resolution.
  • Support innovative thinking on advanced digital programmes to enhance clinical care and improve patient outcomes.
  • Manage conflicts between programme and project requirements, ensuring they are escalated and resolved according to organizational priorities.
  • Oversee programme quality by embedding quality processes from the outset and establishing governance and operational practices for the programme team.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with stakeholders regarding progress, impacts, and changes related to programme/project management.
  • Participate in programme and project reviews to demonstrate senior-level support and leadership.
  • Take ownership of the Risks and Issues Logs at the programme level, implementing a risk management process from the beginning and initiating corrective actions as necessary.
  • Represent the IT Department in senior-level project-related meetings, providing comprehensive written and verbal updates on complex projects and programmes.
  • Ensure that contracts for new systems comply with current NHS standards, offering guidance and direction throughout their completion.
  • Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring spending is recorded and aligned with the relevant Finance lead.
  • Provide oversight of project benefits and ensure that benefits realization is conducted and transitioned appropriately.
  • Apply standard project management methodologies (particularly MSP and PRINCE2) to ensure efficient progress management and appropriate governance for all main projects in the portfolio.
  • Assist in recruiting additional staff needed for project-related activities, providing support as necessary.
  • Deliver against the overall design and plan of the specified programme, bringing IT project management expertise to the team.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Director of IT and/or Programme Board.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience at a comparable level.
  • Possession of one or more project management qualifications such as Prince 2 Practitioner, Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner, or APM Registered Project Professional.

Desirable:

  • Membership in a relevant professional body.

Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in managing projects and delivering them within established timelines and budgets.
  • Experience in providing support and input into complex programmes.
  • Proficiency in preparing briefing papers and correspondence for programme and project board levels.
  • Experience in managing change effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an IT environment.
  • Experience managing a variety of IT projects.
  • Familiarity with applications such as MS Visio and MS Project.
  • Experience in workflow/process mapping.
