Position Overview

We are excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a Safety and Compliance Operations Manager to become a vital part of our retail team. For the ideal candidate, we offer a competitive salary that reflects industry standards.

We are in search of a knowledgeable professional in Health & Safety to collaborate with our Regional Compliance Managers and serve as the primary support for Health & Safety issues within our retail operations. The selected individual will also champion Food Safety and Trading Standards, demonstrating a strong commitment to all aspects of Safe & Legal practices.

This role involves travel across various retail locations, providing support to our compliance team. The preferred candidate will ideally be situated in a location with convenient access to multiple regions.

The successful applicant will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and compliance standards, ensuring the well-being of both customers and staff. While expertise in Health & Safety is essential, experience in Food Safety and Trading Standards is advantageous, with comprehensive training available for the right individual.

In collaboration with Retail Senior and Regional Management, this role encompasses overall accountability for Safe & Legal practices, striving to uphold the integrity of our brand. We are looking for a dynamic and confident individual with a proven track record in engaging teams and driving positive change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comprehensive Safe & Legal management service for retail locations, with occasional support for logistics.
  • Actively participate in regional and store meetings, fostering engagement with senior management and sharing data insights to develop effective solutions.
  • Oversee and coordinate actions in response to serious safety or compliance concerns, working closely with stores to enhance standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage enforcement activities, ensuring necessary support is arranged and liaising with enforcement officers for satisfactory resolutions.
  • Provide responsive support for urgent food safety, trading standards, and health & safety incidents.
  • Assist central teams by supplying timely information and guidance.
  • Utilize a partnership approach to coach Regional Managers, Store Managers, and colleagues on required safety and compliance standards.
  • Establish strong relationships with retail management teams to be recognized as the primary contact for all technical inquiries.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively promote safety and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, or a degree in a relevant field such as Microbiology, Food Science, or Environmental Health, or extensive practical experience.
  • Familiarity with Trading Standards, Health & Safety, and Food Safety regulations.
  • Experience in auditing or assessment within Safe & Legal disciplines.
  • Recognized HACCP Qualification at an Intermediate Level.
  • Comprehensive understanding of catering, retail, or manufacturing processes related to Safe & Legal practices.
  • Awareness of microbiological safety and quality considerations for high-risk products.
  • Solid grasp of food safety, health & safety, and trading standards management systems.
  • Knowledge of retail operations from end to end.
  • Customer-focused with a proactive, positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and data analysis skills.
