Job Overview

National Grid is embarking on a transformative journey, collaborating with partner organizations to execute significant onshore initiatives throughout the UK as part of the Great Grid Partnership (GGP). This enduring alliance necessitates enhanced collaboration and teamwork. Our Enterprise Director is at the forefront of this integration and is in search of a Colleague Communication and Engagement Manager to assist the GGP Executive team. This position entails collaborating with various organizations to formulate and execute the GGP colleague communications strategy, effectively bringing "The Great Grid Upgrade" into reality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the colleague communications and engagement strategy for the Great Grid Partnership, emphasizing integration and change management.
  • Collaborate with the GGP senior leadership team to foster visibility and trust in the ongoing changes and new partnerships.
  • Create and oversee engaging content across internal communication channels, ensuring key messages are consistent and clear.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of content and channels, utilizing data to guide communication strategies.
  • Provide strategic communication advice to Great Grid Partnership leadership and teams, ensuring alignment with the overarching communication strategy.
  • Organize and manage events and campaigns as necessary.
  • Share best practices and work alongside colleague communication teams to enhance engagement and effective communication throughout the GGP.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing colleague communications and engagement strategies, plans, and campaigns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the internal communication landscape, including planning, research, measurement, and channel utilization.
  • Proficient writer capable of producing engaging content for varied audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to operate within a matrix environment alongside partner organizations.
  • Proven track record of providing colleague communications support in large operational settings.

  • Capacity to generate high-quality content under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Creative and flexible communication style, adjusting messages to suit specific audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation and influence.
  • Self-driven with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Results-focused with a history of timely delivery and managing competing communication challenges.

Benefits

A competitive salary of up to £65,000, commensurate with experience and capability.

In addition to the base salary, a performance-related bonus of up to 15% of your salary is available, along with a competitive contributory pension scheme that doubles company contributions up to a maximum of 12%.
