About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled External Communications Manager to join our team at Simplyhealth. As a key member of our Communications team, you'll play a vital role in shaping and delivering our external communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a multi-channel communications strategy to meet business needs and stakeholder ambitions.
  • Manage a press agency and work collaboratively with the wider Marketing team, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead public affairs work for Denplan with our public affairs agency.
  • Line manage the Communications Executive, providing professional development, coaching, and support.
About You

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of media relations, excellent communication skills, and experience of shaping and delivering communications strategies. You'll need to be able to work at pace, multi-task, and enjoy working with a range of stakeholders.

To be considered, you'll need to have:

  • Experience of shaping and delivering a multi-channel communications strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly impeccable writing skills and the ability to be a strong storyteller.
  • A strong understanding of media relations, with experience of working in a media relations team or in a journalistic capacity.
  • A robust knowledge and experience of developing and leading press campaigns, plus creating thought leadership content for different audiences.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading activity that can meet the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.
  • An excellent working knowledge of public relations, thought leadership, social media, and crisis communications.
  • Experience of agency management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, experience working at senior levels (C-suite) within a multi-stakeholder environment.
