Job Description

Job Summary:

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Development Officer to join our team in the Yorkshire & Humber region. As a key member of our North England Membership area, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a coherent strategy for membership development, including coordinating the development and delivery of training and services to individuals and companies in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Membership Growth: Undertake activities to promote and grow membership within the Yorkshire & Humber region.
  • Business Development: Develop and market activities to progress and support aspirant members for the different routes to membership, ensuring effective delivery across the region and North of England.
  • Membership Support: Provide advice and guidance to members and non-members.
  • Employer Support: Provide advice and guidance to employers on professional development.
  • Further Education and Higher Education Establishments: Advise FE and HE students on membership and careers available to gain relevant experience.
  • ICE Approved Employers and Mentor Supported Programmes: Oversee the operation of ICE Approved Employers and mentor supported programmes.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Membership Manager, existing MDOs, Membership Support Centre, and Membership areas to ensure a consistency of approach.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure that ICE membership records are up to date.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience in civil engineering, customer service, learning and development, or a related subject.
  • Previous business development experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to engage and relate to senior members of the engineering and education professions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to turn technical material into non-technical outputs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations (both face-to-face and online using MS Teams).
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications, with experience working with databases useful but not essential.
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours when necessary.
