Exciting Opportunity at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our enthusiastic team on Ward 3 (Surgical Day Case Unit). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high standards of care to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Admit patients for surgery and provide pre and post-operative nursing care.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced day case nurses and clinicians to deliver a safe and effective patient-focused service.
  • Under the supervision of the Ward Leaders, you will be responsible for the provision, organisation and direction of nursing care for patients on your ward.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and high standard of care is provided to all patients.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with NMC pin.
  • Recent evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Teaching and assessing course.
  • Degree/Diploma.
Experience
  • Experience in the relevant speciality of which you are applying.
  • Experience of working independently and as a member of a team.
  • Previous experience in a caring environment.
  • Experience of audit research.
  • Experience of clinical supervision.
Skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain and improve standards of care.
  • Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour or practice in a professional context.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
Knowledge
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice.
  • Understanding of research/audit.
  • Understanding of resource management.
  • Understanding of education/student requirements.
Additional
  • Flexible and positive approach to work.
  • Ability to speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year pro rata & per annum
