Staff Nurse A&E Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse A&E Specialist to join our dynamic team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of excellent healthcare services.
Main Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care, including discharge planning, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and children, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
- Participate in preceptorship programs and act as a facilitator, mentor, or preceptor to less experienced staff, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Educate patients and their carers on healthy lifestyle choices and provide information on adopting a healthier lifestyle.
- Accurately complete patient documentation and communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop and sustain your own knowledge, clinical skills, and professional awareness, maintaining a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice.
- Assist in the training and development of student nurses and healthcare assistants, completing assessors' training as required.
- Contribute to research and development programs within the ward or department, promoting evidence-based practice.
- Contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care, ensuring accountability for maintaining standards.
- Participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain a safe, clean ward environment, ensuring all necessary risk assessments are carried out and documented.
- Show awareness of budgeting and exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment.
- In the absence of a more senior member of staff, undertake clinical or shift management within an area of the department, with support and guidance.
- Ability to undertake manual handling and movement tasks, wearing appropriate protective equipment.
- Prepared to work variable shift patterns, including early, late, and night shifts, over 7 days of the week.
- Awareness of self-presentation to patients and relatives, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered nurse on sub-part 1 or 2 of the professional register.
- NMC recognized mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post.
- Evidence of continuing education for more experienced Band 5 nurses in the specialty.
