Job Title: Senior Caseworker

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Caseworker to join our team in Abena's constituency office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues, managing and progressing the office casework load, and ensuring that cases are dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing advice and support to constituents through liaison with Government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector, and others
  • Managing and progressing the office casework load, including analysing patterns of cases and reporting to the Office Manager and MP
  • Managing the constituency diary, ensuring that the MP is briefed appropriately, and preparing for and attending surgery appointments and constituency visits with the MP
  • Dealing with enquiries from members of the public and other organisations, taking the appropriate initial action to resolve, delegate, or escalate
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines and legislation
  • Supervising other members of staff
Person Specification:
  • Previous experience of managing casework (or equivalent) in an MP's Office, the Civil Service, local authority, solicitor's firm, or a third sector organisation is essential
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • A high standard of written English and excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Prioritising work effectively and with minimal direction, with experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Competent use of standard office IT packages, with experience of using desirable but not essential
  • Understanding and sympathy with the aims and goals of the Labour Party, with a commitment to helping people and getting the best result possible for residents

This is a permanent role with a 6-month probationary period, and full-time, part-time, and flexible working options may be considered.
