Position Overview

Quest Search & Selection is collaborating with a dynamic publishing organization seeking a skilled Editorial Lead to enhance their editorial team. This role focuses on curating content for a publication dedicated to the vibrant sectors of FMCG, Grocery, CPG, and Retail Food.

The Editorial Lead will report directly to the Group Editor and will be responsible for crafting and refining industry news articles and compelling features. The position also involves representing the organization at industry gatherings, participating in product/store unveilings, and engaging with high-level executives in the retail, grocery, FMCG, and CPG industries.

Core Responsibilities of the Editorial Lead:

  • Oversee editorial processes and provide constructive feedback on team outputs.
  • Manage a small team of Journalists and freelance contributors.
  • Investigate, source, and compose news articles for the digital publication.
  • Propose and develop features on innovative technologies within the retail landscape.
  • Conduct interviews and foster relationships with senior industry figures.
  • Implement SEO and social media strategies to enhance the online presence of published content.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and cultivate a network of professional contacts.
  • Act as a deputy for the Group Editor during absences.

Essential Qualifications for the Editorial Lead:

  • A minimum of 1 year in a Deputy, Sub-Editor, or similar editorial role.
  • At least 4 years of journalism experience with a portfolio of published works.
  • Experience in a B2B or trade publication environment.
  • Familiarity with ecommerce, FMCG, or retail coverage is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to generate engaging content ideas that resonate with the target audience.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in digital publishing tools, including Google Analytics and WordPress (or other CMS).
  • Understanding of social media best practices and SEO methodologies.
