Your Role
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dynamic and creative Lead Editorial Strategist/ Senior Content Acquisition Editor. The selected individual will focus on the Wren & Rook collection, specifically targeting the commissioning and oversight of non-fiction works aimed at middle-grade, teenage, and crossover demographics.
The successful candidate will engage with established authors and illustrators while actively expanding the collection by identifying and commissioning fresh creative talent. This position includes responsibilities for line management.
Candidate Profile
We are in search of a skilled, innovative, and driven professional with substantial experience in children's or adult non-fiction publishing. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional editorial abilities, a strong commercial insight, and a proven track record in commissioning successful non-fiction titles. A deep understanding of author relations and a robust network of agents, authors, and external collaborators is essential.
We seek a versatile editor who can identify trends and emerging brands, nurture existing authors, manage significant proposals, and proactively pursue new projects and concepts, commissioning forward-thinking lead titles for our esteemed collection.
This role is ideal for a seasoned commissioning editor or senior commissioning editor with extensive experience in commissioning, editorial work, and project management, looking to take on substantial projects and broaden our offerings.
This position is diverse and collaborative, with the successful candidate involved in all facets of the editorial process—from commissioning and delivering high-quality publications in alignment with strategic goals and budgetary constraints to advocating for their titles internally and collaborating closely with colleagues across the organization.
As a prerequisite, candidates must have experience as a Commissioning Editor in children's or adult non-fiction. Familiarity with Biblio and InDesign is advantageous, while a comprehensive understanding of the trade non-fiction landscape is crucial.
