Join Our Team as a Deputy Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Editor to join our team at The Lancet Regional Health – Europe. As a Deputy Editor, you will play a key role in developing editorial strategy, providing training and mentorship to new editors, and writing editorials and peer reviews.

About the Role

The Deputy Editor will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing editorial strategy, including special projects such as series and commissions
  • Providing training and mentorship to new editors on manuscript evaluation, peer-review processes, editorial writing, and commissioning
  • Writing editorials, organizing peer review of research articles and reviews, and conducting webinars and podcasts with authors and key opinion leaders
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with medical research communities to solicit high-quality research, particularly clinical trials, for the journal
  • Attending conferences and other events to represent the journal, identify suitable topics and authors, and stay up-to-date with current developments in medical research
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A medical degree in a relevant discipline or a higher degree (PhD) in a relevant discipline (e.g., biomedical science, public health, global health)
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical and global public health pertaining to the WHO Europe region
  • Excellent command of the English language and the ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including MS Office
  • A genuine commitment to equity in health and healthcare
