Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate to join our team as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time role, starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons, with a focus on Psychology and related subjects. Facilitate classroom activities, ensure students remain engaged, and provide support to those who may struggle with the material.
  • One-on-One and Small Group Support: Work closely with students who require additional help, particularly those with learning difficulties, emotional challenges, or other special educational needs. Utilize your psychology knowledge to understand and address these students' specific needs.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Support students with behavioral or emotional difficulties, helping them to manage their emotions and behavior effectively. Collaborate with the school's pastoral team to create individualized support plans.
  • Lesson and Resource Preparation: Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans and educational resources that cater to the diverse needs of students. Your input will help to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assist in evaluating students' progress, providing constructive feedback, and helping students set and achieve personal and academic goals.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Support or lead extracurricular activities, such as mindfulness sessions, mental health awareness groups, or peer support programs, to promote well-being and resilience among students.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer additional pastoral support, acting as a trusted point of contact for students needing emotional support, and helping to foster a positive and inclusive school culture.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • A genuine interest in education and a passion for supporting young people's mental and emotional well-being.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, particularly when working with students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Previous experience working with young people, especially in an educational or mental health setting, is highly desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
