Job Title: Field Support Engineer

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Field Support Engineer to join our team at our Cheadle site. As a Field Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, setting to work, and in-service support of Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers' ships and submarines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and set to work Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems on Royal Navy and export customers' ships and submarines.
  • Provide on-call telephone support to customers and write site visit reports.
  • Conduct pre-upkeep maintenance assessments, scheduled maintenance activities, and escalate engineering issues as required.
  • Write post-maintenance reports and provide weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager.
  • Comply with all export control rules and regulations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Requirements:
  • Significant experience of working with electronic equipment, with some experience of electrical and hydraulic systems being advantageous.
  • Network/IT experience would also be beneficial.
  • Experience of working with the Armed Forces, with an understanding of their procedures, would be advantageous.
  • Ability to follow procedures but also suggest improvements based on experience and knowledge.
  • Happy to work at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Willingness to spend time away from the factory, often responding at short notice to customer needs.
