Experienced HLTA for ASC Support

A prominent secondary educational institution is seeking dedicated staff to assist in the management of its Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) resource base. This facility will be staffed by a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) teacher alongside three trained teaching assistants, ensuring a favorable adult-to-student ratio that caters to the unique needs of each child.

Your role will involve working within the ASC resource base, guiding students as they strive to achieve their individual developmental objectives. Responsibilities will include both one-on-one support and small group instruction. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor less experienced teaching assistants, fostering their professional growth through a coaching methodology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the lead teacher of the resource base
  • Deliver exceptional support to students
  • Assist in planning and resource allocation
  • Demonstrate effective teaching practices
  • Guide and support the professional development of support staff

Essential Qualifications/Skills

  • HLTA certification
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Experience with individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Autism, or Complex Needs is preferred
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (valid visa required)
  • At least one recent reference from a child-related role and relevant DBS/Police checks

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience with children having SEND or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Relevant SEND or educational qualifications
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching

Compensation: Five Education utilizes a PAYE payroll system, ensuring transparency in payments without hidden fees such as administrative charges or employer's National Insurance. We are proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. Please note that the pay rate is illustrative and includes holiday pay.
