Position: Experienced HLTA for ASC Support

A prominent secondary educational institution is seeking dedicated personnel to contribute to the effective management of its Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) resource base. This facility is staffed by a SEND teacher and three specially trained teaching assistants, ensuring a low pupil-to-adult ratio that caters to the individual needs of each child.

Your role will involve working within the ASC resource base, where you will assist students in achieving their personal developmental objectives. This will include both one-on-one support and small group activities. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor less experienced teaching assistants, fostering their professional growth through a coaching methodology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the lead teacher of the resource base
  • Deliver exceptional support to students
  • Assist in the planning and resource allocation
  • Demonstrate effective teaching strategies
  • Guide and support the professional development of support staff

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

  • HLTA qualification
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Experience working with individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Autism, or Complex Needs is preferred
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (valid visa required)
  • At least one recent child-based reference and relevant DBS/Police checks

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with children who have SEND or SEMH needs
  • Relevant SEND or educational qualifications
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching
