Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Band 7 or Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist with a background in adult neurology to enhance their leadership and clinical expertise within a supportive and innovative team. Our dedicated team operates across various community settings, delivering adult speech and language therapy services that include community inpatient facilities, specialized multidisciplinary stroke services, community clinics, and home visits. We cater to clients facing a variety of challenges, such as neurological conditions, voice disorders, stuttering, frailty, and respiratory issues. Our team benefits from excellent administrative support and well-established caseload management systems to facilitate effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

We are committed to the professional growth of our staff, supported by a comprehensive supervision and appraisal framework. You will receive guidance from both the Speech and Language Therapy team leader and the operational manager, along with peer support from fellow Band 7 professionals within the service. Our staff are encouraged to pursue external training opportunities and have actively participated in research and service enhancement initiatives. Additionally, we provide the necessary technology to enable flexible and mobile working arrangements. Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant specialty or a professional qualification at the degree level, supplemented by specialized accredited training and experience equivalent to postgraduate diploma level.
  • Current full membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), including completion of Newly Qualified Practitioner (NQP) competencies.
  • Active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Dysphagia and/or evidence of competence at the specialist level according to RCSLT Dysphagia competencies.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Postgraduate dysphagia qualifications and/or evidence of competence at the highly specialist level according to RCSLT dysphagia competencies.
  • Education at the Master's level or completion of Master's level/postgraduate modules, supplemented by specialized accredited training and experience in relevant fields.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant policies, legislation, and guidelines pertinent to clinical and service areas.
  • In-depth knowledge and application of relevant clinical practices, standards, and audits within the identified clinical area.
  • Specialist knowledge of clinical practices, standards, and protocols within the designated clinical area.
  • Evidence of conducting audits and surveys.
  • Basic IT proficiency.

Desirable Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of clinical practices, standards, and protocols within the identified clinical area.

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated post-registration professional practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at a specialist level.
  • Experience in multi-agency and professional collaboration.
  • Experience in managing caseloads within a specialized service area.
  • Evidence of promoting and supporting active patient and relative involvement.

Desirable Experience

  • Proven experience in the specific field related to the position.
  • Evidence of advanced CPD relevant to the clinical area at an advanced level, including Master's/postgraduate diploma and equivalent knowledge or experiential learning.
  • Evidence of advanced practice skills and the ability to demonstrate their impact on practice change and development.
  • Evidence of promoting and supporting active user and carer involvement.
  • Leadership and management experience that has positively influenced service delivery and practice.
  • Professional networking at regional and national levels.
  • Ability to effectively chair meetings.
