About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scotland Energy Planning Lead to join our team at National Grid. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing regional energy strategic plans that drive whole energy considerations across all energy vectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Lead Regional Energy Strategic Planning Work Packages: Define and lead on regional energy strategic planning work packages, ensuring that they align with the company's overall strategy and goals.
  • Represent NESO's Regional Energy Planning Function: Represent NESO's regional energy planning function at strategic level and deputise for the regional manager, providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Engage with Regional Stakeholders: Engage with specific key regional stakeholders within local government, gas and electricity networks, other local actors and whole energy system stakeholders to understand their views and requirements, ensuring that the RESP delivers value.
  • Develop New Analytical Approaches: Create new ways to analyse and present problems and potential solutions, sometimes building on the work and experience of others to quickly develop sufficient understanding of unfamiliar topics in developing the RESP.
Requirements
  • Experience in the Energy Sector: Experience within the energy sector, including technical energy knowledge, with a strong understanding of energy project development lifecycles and the 'whole energy' system.
  • Knowledge of Energy Project Development: Knowledge and experience of strategic critical thinking with ability to consider strategic frameworks and concepts, and how changes to these will drive RESP design and implementation.
  • Project Management Skills: Project management, coordination and planning skills to ensure that deadlines are met, governance is adhered to, stakeholders are effectively engaged and high quality process and outputs are achieved.
What We Offer
  • Competitive Salary: A competitive salary between £52,000 - £63,000 per annum – dependent on experience and capability.
