Fowler Welch is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our site operations and drive business growth. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the overall site operations, achieving operational KPIs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Site Operations Management: Oversee the management of site operations, including the control and performance of the operation and colleagues, to ensure continuity and efficiency in line with all legal requirements and within budget.
- Fleet Management: Ensure the transport fleet and all assets are operated in a commercially viable way, and manage fleet requirements to ensure an appropriate mix of equipment to suit the needs of the operation.
- Warehouse Management: Oversee the effective management of the Warehouse operation, including the management of driver headcount and shift patterns, and review periodically to ensure they meet the requirements of the operation.
- Performance Management: Review daily KPIs, along with forward planning and analysis of month-to-date and year-to-date, to ensure the lowest cost with the required service levels at all times.
- Health and Safety: Ensure site operations, practices, and procedures are managed in line with the company's Health & Safety policy and other statutory compliance, including legal compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Manage a continuous improvement policy in areas of communication, reduction in damage costs, and training to improve mpg and driving style.
- Leadership and Development: Develop, implement, and review a people recruitment, training, and development plan to assist succession planning, ensuring talent identification and retention is optimized.
- Disciplinary Procedures: Maintain department discipline standards, including conduct and performance, using the Company disciplinary policy and procedures with the support of HR.
- Transport and Warehouse Experience: Proven experience in FMCG environment, with a strong understanding of warehouse and transport planning systems.
- Leadership and Management: Previous experience of managing, motivating, and leading a team, with a valid CPC.
- Commercial and Change Management: Comprehensive knowledge of major retailer, supply chain requirements, and commercial and change management experience.
- Customer and Supplier Relationship Management: Experience in managing customer and supplier relationships, with a strong understanding of customer and supplier needs.
- IT Skills: Good IT skills, including Microsoft office packages, with the ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
