Job Summary

The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Deputy IT Strategy and Technical Design Authority. This position will play a critical role in shaping the department's digital and technology strategy, ensuring that our systems and services are secure, efficient, and effective in supporting our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the department's IT strategy, aligning it with our business objectives and ensuring that it is relevant to the evolving needs of the department.
  • Oversee the technical design and implementation of digital and technology solutions, ensuring that they meet business requirements and are aligned with strategic and security frameworks.
  • Provide technical assurance and guidance to project teams, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and expertise to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the department and with external partners to identify and prioritize technology initiatives that support our business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and partners, ensuring that we have access to the latest technologies and expertise.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and issues in digital and technology, ensuring that our strategy and solutions are aligned with best practice and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing IT strategies, with a strong understanding of business objectives and technology trends.
  • Hands-on experience of managing Microsoft technologies such as M365, Azure, and Networks.
  • Strong technical skills, with a focus on secure by design and risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
