Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Claims and Reinsurance Operations Manager to join our team at Hanson Lee. In this pivotal role, you will become the subject matter expert for our diverse range of Claims and Reinsurance offerings, encompassing applications, data management systems, methodologies, and analytical solutions.

Essential Business Knowledge:

  • Experience within the Lloyd's Market, General Insurance, or Brokerage sectors.
  • Understanding of fundamental insurance principles, including Underwriting, Reinsurance, Finance, Compliance, and Claims.
  • Proven background in Reinsurance or Claims Operations, whether through Business As Usual (BAU) or project-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address operational challenges, minimize risks, and explore avenues for process enhancement or automation, while remaining informed about technical and regulatory developments impacting these domains.
  • Manage the coordination of operational and IT enhancements, ensuring that project results align with strategic objectives and facilitating team engagement in organization-wide operational transformations.
  • Regularly assess and refine Claims and Reinsurance business processes, ensuring they are consistently evaluated and adjusted in response to IT initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Portfolio Strategy to ensure that initiatives in these areas are aligned with the company's strategic goals and that appropriate prioritization is applied.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a new Product Management function, focusing on developing core competencies and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of existing products, identifying opportunities for enhancement and making recommendations to improve outcomes for both Claims and Reinsurance teams.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving operational issues that arise within both teams, proposing and implementing potential solutions.
  • Proactively identify potential operational risks within Claims and Reinsurance, ensuring all risks are monitored, addressed, and mitigated where feasible.
  • Work collaboratively with both teams to analyze business processes and workflows, pinpointing areas for improvement or automation.
  • Stay informed about technical and regulatory changes to understand their potential impact on the Claims and Reinsurance landscape.
  • Provide technical support to the business on behalf of both teams, serving as a subject matter expert on projects, participating in workshops, and contributing to project delivery as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including Operations, IT, Underwriting, Finance, Pricing, and Actuarial departments.
  • Perform necessary analyses to support and advocate for the funding of all discretionary initiatives on behalf of the Claims and Reinsurance teams.
  • Oversee and assist in monitoring the realization of project benefits from both Claims and Reinsurance teams, ensuring alignment with the initial business case objectives.
  • Facilitate the prioritization of all operational and IT changes within the Claims and Reinsurance sectors by coordinating both business teams across large-scale transformation projects, managing small change service requests, and contributing to the ongoing development of data management systems.
  • Assist the Head of Portfolio Strategy with any ad-hoc requests as required.
