Our Culture: People First

Since our establishment in 1994, we have evolved significantly. Initially, we were local experts based in London, providing direct access to the world's largest insurance market. Today, we maintain our local expertise while operating globally. With 15,000 colleagues worldwide and a partner network spanning over 100 territories, we have become the largest independent insurance broker globally. However, our core values remain unchanged since our inception, emphasizing:

• An employee-ownership model

• Aligned external investors

• Trust and integrity rooted in friendship

• Expertise

• Independence

Our commitment to being a people-first organization has always been central to Howden's ethos. Our vision was to create an independent business with a unique culture, one that thrives under the stewardship of its employees. Our employee ownership model distinguishes us in the market, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation that encourages us to think ambitiously and challenge the status quo.

Our flat organizational structure and entrepreneurial spirit attract top talent and empower them to reach their full potential. By nurturing exceptional individuals, we enhance our capabilities, benefiting everyone involved.
