Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Technician for Rail Systems to become a vital part of our innovative Engineering team at Navartis, a prominent player in the UK's rail industry.

The primary objective of this position is to conduct both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, alongside modification and overhaul projects on passenger trains and their components. The successful candidate will engage in troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and repair of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems within passenger trains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and test train systems, executing preventive and corrective maintenance with appropriate testing tools to confirm or rule out system failures.
  • Create defect rectification strategies to support fellow maintenance personnel, offering solutions that ensure immediate mitigation and long-term resolution.
  • Examine asset management data to foresee risks and determine necessary interventions, while also identifying trends for improvement initiatives.
  • Implement strategies for obsolescence avoidance and mitigation.
  • Serve as a mentor to colleagues, enhancing their fault-finding and analytical capabilities.
  • Enhance depot and fleet processes, as well as Vehicle Maintenance Instructions.

Required Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering principles.
  • Completion of a recognized Mechanical/Electrical Engineering apprenticeship.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for coaching peers.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical fault diagnosis, with the capability to identify, analyze, and repair systems using schematic diagrams and related documentation.
  • ONC or higher qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/PC/Software fields.
  • Experience within the rail sector is preferred.

Compensation Package:

  • Competitive salary up to £59,000.
