About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Network Rail as a Rail Testing Supervisor, where you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of rail testing and maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and inspect the quality of work delivered by teams to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
- Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements, and other instructions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety, quality, and environmental management.
- Undertake specific inspections and audits to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
- Prioritize work arising and manage resources effectively to meet deadlines and deliver results.
- Prepare and implement work plans, method statements, and safe systems of work plans to ensure safe and efficient delivery of work.
- Assist in the development of work plans and strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of rail testing and maintenance services.
- Identify and propose asset renewals and maintenance activities to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of rail assets.
- Assist in the allocation of resources and manage teams to deliver results.
- Deliver work in accordance with relevant maintenance plans and schedules.
- Provide accurate and timely information to update systems, databases, and records.
- Undertake a program of staff surveillance, work quality, compliance, and asset condition checks to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
- Assist in the management, control, and discipline of staff to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in the monitoring and review of staff competence and welfare to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of rail testing and maintenance services.
Requirements
- Experience of directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work.
- Knowledge of resource and work organization/planning processes and systems.
- Knowledge and experience of rail testing and lubrication inspection, maintenance, renewal, and asset condition assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructions.
- Awareness of cost and waste control techniques.
- Able to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviors within the team.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Able to coach, influence, and develop others.
- Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
- Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
