About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fitter/Operator/Maintenance Technician to join our team at Colas Rail UK. As an OTM Driver/Fitter/Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our on-track machines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain on-track machines (OTMs) in a safe and competent manner, in accordance with Railway Standards and Colas Rail's Competency Based Standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on OTMs, including mechanical and electrical work.
  • Assist specialist fitter staff with maintenance and repairs, and provide support with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Communicate effectively with Rugby Rail Plant Control Room and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operation and maintenance of OTMs.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of computer and phone skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Flexible, honest, and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Certified in Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • In possession of a clean full and valid road vehicle driving license to drive company vehicles.
  • Willing to continue learning and be trained in new skills and technologies.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and sense of professional pride.
  • Able to perform weekend and night shift duties.
  • Mechanically minded with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Team worker with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
