Position Overview

Disease Claims Handler

Location: Greater Leeds area/Hybrid

Hours: Full-Time 35 hours, Monday - Friday

Davies is seeking a skilled Disease Claims Handler to enhance our expanding Casualty team.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with Insurers, Policyholders, and Brokers effectively.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of assigned claims, or refer to a field adjuster for on-site evaluations when necessary.
  • Gather all essential evidence and pertinent documentation.
  • Identify suitable actions for resolving claims efficiently.
  • Draft comprehensive reports as needed, offering insights on policy indemnity, responses, and recommendations.
  • Negotiate settlements within established authority limits when appropriate.
  • Maintain professional correspondence with all involved parties to ensure timely progression of cases.
  • Adhere to client requirements by consistently following documented procedures.
  • Regularly review and maintain accurate reserves.
  • Stay informed on technical changes relevant to your role, including participation in company-facilitated training programs.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with policy wording, including terms and conditions.
  • Understanding of the insurance industry and market dynamics.
  • Knowledge of legal principles, regulations, and acts related to disease claims.
  • Ability to assess the value of disease claims.
  • Insight into reserving philosophies.
  • Awareness of Civil Procedure Rules and the Claims Portal.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Proficient planning and organizational skills.
  • Accountability for managing your own workload.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility.
  • Robust IT skills.
