As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the curriculum and teaching standards within History, with a focus on strategic planning and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement curriculum frameworks for History and Social Studies, ensuring alignment with national standards and guidelines.
  • Lead training and professional development for History teachers, focusing on best practices and innovative teaching methods.
  • Build relationships with specialist providers and stay up-to-date on statutory guidance and curriculum developments.
  • Communicate effectively with families and students about curriculum and delivery of History, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching, learning, and assessment within the faculty, with a focus on excellence and equity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Academy to develop and implement effective lesson planning, delivery, and evaluation strategies.
  • Plan and deliver outstanding lessons, utilizing a variety of teaching resources and technologies.
  • Contribute to the Academy's EDI strategy, taking oversight for this within the curriculum areas.
  • Set and mark internal examinations and tests, ensuring accurate and timely feedback to students.
  • Stay informed about current developments in History and Social Sciences, participating in INSET and initiating change where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and relevant qualifications and experience in History and Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrate an overview of the needs of the whole school, as well as curriculum area(s).
  • Be aware of current relevant legislation and educational developments.
  • Understand the curriculum and factors contributing to the learning experience of pupils.
  • Have relevant skills and qualities, and a flexible approach to the demands of the post.
  • Demonstrate commitment to all school policies.
  • Understand and respond to the needs of pupils with SEN.
