About the Role:

  • You will provide strong and visible leadership for the History department, setting the strategic direction and ensuring its continued success.
  • You will develop and implement a clear vision and curriculum for History, aligned with the school's overall goals and the National Curriculum.
  • You will lead a team of dedicated History teachers, fostering collaboration, professional development, and a culture of high expectations.
  • You will monitor and track student progress, identifying and supporting those who need extra help.
  • You will oversee the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment within the History department.
  • You will contribute to the wider leadership team of the school.
  • You will represent the History department at school events and within the wider educational community.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You will be a qualified History Teacher with a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience, including significant leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
  • You will have a proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes in History.
  • You will have excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring the next generation of historians.
  • You will have strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and empower colleagues.
  • You will have excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • You will be able to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
