Operating Department Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operating Department Practitioner to join our theatre team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the perioperative environment, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent clinical standards and staff development.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the perioperative environment, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field, handle surgical instruments, and ensure the correct functionality of equipment.
- Assist anaesthetists with induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia, including airway management and patient monitoring.
- Provide post-operative care, including patient assessment and management of complications in the recovery room.
- Work closely with senior staff and multidisciplinary team members to monitor and maintain excellent clinical standards and staff development.
- Perform tasks of anaesthetic assistant, following all checks and procedures as laid down in National/ Theatre Policy.
- Be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff, acting as a mentor with the support of senior colleagues.
- Operating Department Practitioner HCPC Registration.
- Experience working in theatres/recovery/anaesthetics.
- Experience working with complex airway as an anaesthetic practitioner.
- Experience of working on own and in a team.
