Cromwell Hospital is a leading healthcare provider that offers a range of medical services to patients. As an Anaesthetic Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Anaesthetic Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assistance to consultants during surgical procedures, preparing patients for clinical and operative procedures, and providing immediate post-operative care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to consultants during all surgical procedures, including local, regional, sedation, and general anaesthetic.
  • Assist in the positioning and preparation of patients as directed by the surgical team, ensuring that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
  • Prepare patients for clinical and operative procedures, and provide immediate post-operative care.
  • Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information, and supporting colleagues to promote a cohesive team and achieve team objectives.
  • Help to control cross-infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures, and asepsis.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • You must hold a relevant OPD / Anaesthetic Nurse qualification (HCPC / ADULT RGN).
  • Post-registration experience within Anaesthetics is essential.
  • Ability to deliver high standards of care is required.
