Position Overview

The successful candidate will join the dedicated Paediatric Dietetic Team, contributing to the Children's Dietetic service. The team will provide guidance and training for the clinical tasks and responsibilities outlined below. These tasks include managing patient appointments and referrals, coordinating specialized diets for inpatients, procuring feeds and specialized products, and facilitating technology and processes for dietary management.

Please be aware that this role involves manual handling responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering administrative support to dietitians, which encompasses clinic and waiting list management, patient appointment coordination, direct communication with patients and families via telephone, and maintaining departmental records.
  • Monitoring inventory levels of dietary supplies and placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained. Regularly reviewing usage to minimize waste is essential.
  • Completing meal plans for inpatients and liaising with the Catering department, including participation in routine meetings.
  • Assisting with the administration of Home Enteral feeding for children transitioning home on Enteral Feeds (in-house training will be provided).
  • Engaging effectively and compassionately with patients and their families/guardians in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Collaborating with external organizations involved in patient care (Hospital to home) to ensure safe discharges and high-quality care.
  • Utilizing available resources and seeking assistance to communicate with patients and relatives facing communication challenges, including non-English speakers and those with hearing impairments, and arranging interpreters for appointments as needed.
  • Maintaining connections between the paediatric dietetic service and other departments within the Trust, including PALS, Manual Handling Advisors, and Mandatory Training officers, as required.

We are a supportive team comprising 14 dietitians and 2 dietetic support workers, recognized for our contributions to the Oxford Children's Hospital.

Job Responsibilities

This position is primarily office-based with a focus on administrative tasks. Manual handling duties are required for the management of the dietary supply store.
