Job Summary

The Education Authority is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of General Assistant 1. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential support to teachers and classroom assistants in the care and supervision of pupils.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist pupils with personal care, including toileting, hygiene, and dressing, utilizing basic toileting aids as necessary.
  • Ensure the safe mobility and general supervision of pupils within school premises, including the playground and on school outings, transporting pupils' belongings as required.
  • Accompany teachers, classroom assistants, and therapy staff on outings or in respect of individual/group therapy programs, such as swimming, educational outings, and hydrotherapy.
  • Provide appropriate care and feeding of pupils during meal times.
  • Ensure pupils comply with normal school rules and routines during the school day.
  • Clean equipment related to daily activities in the classroom and assist with setting out equipment as directed.
  • Perform other duties assigned within the level of the post, which should be non-curricular in nature.

General Conditions

    • Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments, and Regulations, and other legal requirements;
    • Codes of Practice.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork.
