Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering lessons to children with special educational needs
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans
  • Provide one-to-one support to children with special educational needs
  • Assist with the preparation of materials and resources for lessons
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority
  • Have a minimum of six months' experience of working with children with special educational needs
  • Have a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Be able to work flexibly and creatively to support the learning and development of children with special educational needs
  • Have effective interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a qualification in paediatric first aid or be willing to complete the qualification upon appointment
  • Have a qualification in basic food hygiene or be willing to complete the qualification upon appointment
  • Have experience of working as a Classroom Assistant with children with special educational needs
Selection Process:

The selection process will consist of an application form, shortlisting, and an interview. The interview will be conducted by a panel of educators and will assess the candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience in supporting children with special educational needs.
