Job Title: Financial Director - Retail Business

About the Role:

We are excited to be supporting a truly entrepreneurial retail business in their search for a Financial Director. The company, Sportsbikeshop, is the UK's largest retailer of motorcycle gear and is looking for a finance professional to take charge of all things finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy:
    • Shape and implement the financial strategy to support growth across both e-commerce and the stores.
    • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes.
    • Provide financial insights and advice to the leadership team to help with long-term planning.
  • Reporting:
    • Deliver the monthly management reports to the group.
    • Analyse performance and trends, providing recommendations to the team.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Cash Flow:
    • Manage cash flow to ensure the company has the necessary funds to achieve its plans.
    • Manage banking relationships.
    • Optimise inventory levels.
  • Cost Control:
    • Keep expenses under control while supporting growth.
    • Streamline costs wherever possible.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead the finance and purchasing team.
    • Work closely with other departments to support the company's plans.
  • Systems & Technology:
    • Oversee financial systems and ensure they are functioning properly.
    • Ensure financial data is accurate, secure, and easily accessible.
    • Support system integration with the e-commerce platform.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Be the go-to person for external stakeholders, including auditors and the group.
    • Prepare financial presentations for board meetings and group updates.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in a commercial organisation.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Senior Finance role, ideally in a retail organisation.
  • High degree of communication skills, with both finance and non-finance professionals.
  • Experience of managing and motivating staff within a finance department.
  • Understanding of and empathy with the work of internal staff.
  • Excellent systems and Excel skills.
  • Strong digital skills, with experience of automation.
  • Thorough practical understanding and application of Management Accounting principles and techniques.
  • First-hand experience of Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting, and producing Management Information at Group, Company, and Departmental level.
