Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our esteemed Fetal Medicine Unit at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust as a full-time Consultant specializing in Maternal and Fetal Medicine. This role involves collaboration with an existing consultant to effectively manage the Unit, which is designed to accommodate 10 programmed activities (PA's).

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a comprehensive healthcare provider, delivering community, acute, and specialized services across our facilities. The position will be primarily based at a prominent district hospital that offers a wide array of medical services.

Our Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department comprises a team of 20 experienced consultants, presenting an exceptional opportunity to be part of a vibrant and committed group dedicated to delivering high-quality care to our diverse patient population. The unit handles approximately 5000 deliveries annually, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide expert care for complex antenatal cases while managing both acute and elective obstetric services. As a member of the Fetal Medicine team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and developing our services in close partnership with the current consultant.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will have a structured job plan consisting of 10 PA's. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the maternal and fetal medicine services.
  • Managing fetal anomaly referrals and conducting anomaly scans and invasive procedures in collaboration with the screening team.
  • Overseeing complex antenatal patients and addressing medical complications during pregnancy.
  • Providing both acute and elective obstetric care.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Subspecialty training in Fetomaternal Medicine or equivalent RCOG ATSM level training in Fetal Medicine.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
