Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our esteemed Fetal Medicine Unit at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust as a full-time Consultant specializing in Fetal and Maternal Medicine. This position involves collaboration with an existing consultant to effectively manage the Unit, comprising 10 programmed activities (PA's).

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a comprehensive healthcare provider, delivering community, acute, and specialized services across our facilities. The role will be primarily based at a large district hospital, which offers a wide array of medical services through its extensive bed capacity.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology consists of a team of 20 Consultants, providing an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic and committed group that delivers high-quality care to our patient community. The unit handles approximately 5000 deliveries annually, and the successful candidate will be expected to deliver consultant-level care to complex antenatal patients while also managing acute and elective Obstetrics. As a member of the Fetal Medicine team, you will play a vital role in enhancing and developing the service in close partnership with the current consultant.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a structured job plan based on 10 PA. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the maternal and fetal medicine service.
  • Managing fetal anomaly referrals and conducting anomaly scans and invasive investigations in collaboration with the screening team.
  • Overseeing complex antenatal patients and addressing medical complications during pregnancy.
  • Providing a comprehensive service for both acute and elective Obstetrics.
