We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our infectious diseases services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert clinical care to patients with infectious diseases, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex cases.
- Lead and manage clinical teams, including junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols for the management of infectious diseases.
- Contribute to the development of our infectious diseases services, including the design and implementation of new services and programs.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including microbiologists, pharmacists, and public health specialists, to ensure comprehensive care for patients with infectious diseases.
- Participate in clinical research and audit, including the design and implementation of studies and the analysis of data.
- Provide teaching and training to junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:
- Basic medical degree
- Postgraduate medical diploma (MRCP or equivalent)
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- CCT in Infectious Diseases or eligibility for acquiring the same within 6 months of the date of the AAC, or equivalent qualification from outside the EU (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- CCT in General Internal Medicine or eligibility for acquiring the same within 6 months of the date of the AAC, or equivalent qualification from outside the EU (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
We would also like to consider candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- Higher Degree
- Qualification in Medical Education (Certificate, Diploma, Masters)
- Current ALS certification
- Postgraduate experience of working in Intensive Care or High Dependency Medicine
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
- Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
- Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
- Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
- Recognised teaching qualification
- Research experience
- Publications
