Our portfolio includes a diverse range of genres, such as memoirs, biographies, history, popular science, psychology, and insightful literature. Our Farrago imprint focuses on delivering 'fiction to make you smile', showcasing a variety of humorous writing.

We are seeking a Publicity Officer to take charge of the following responsibilities:

  • Overseeing Duckworth and Farrago's social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook), including the creation and strategic placement of engaging content to elevate our book offerings.
  • Assisting in the coordination of literary events that highlight our authors and enhance our brand visibility.
  • Supporting internal publicity initiatives while collaborating closely with the lead publicist.
  • Identifying promotional avenues and crafting compelling pitches.
  • Cultivating and sustaining relationships with media representatives.
  • Producing publicity updates and reports to aid the sales department.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of all press, radio, and television coverage.
  • Executing general administrative duties related to publicity, including mail handling and database upkeep.

This position is ideal for a motivated and passionate individual with a keen interest in the publishing industry, eager to enhance their skills within a supportive team environment. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in publicity is required, along with proficiency in social media, strong communication abilities, and a solid understanding of media outlets. Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to gather and organize information effectively, exhibit initiative and attention to detail, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate will possess the creativity and dedication necessary to support the organic promotion of our publications, maximizing their success throughout all stages of their lifecycle. A passion for reading and a collaborative spirit are essential.

This role is offered as a 9-month contract, with a flexible schedule of 4-5 days per week. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds who meet the experience criteria.

Salary range: £26,000-£28,000 pro rata, based on experience.
