As a Credit Risk Strategy Lead, you will oversee the comprehensive credit risk management for Uncapped's small ticket business lending portfolio. This role entails developing and maintaining credit risk policies and strategies, while ensuring adherence to all relevant lending laws and regulations.

In this position, you will work closely with key internal stakeholders to implement credit risk initiatives, build a high-performing team, and foster strong cross-functional relationships with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Product, and external partners.

You will have at least 10 years of experience in credit risk management roles within the fintech or banking industry, focusing on the consumer or SME lending sector, with at least 5 years in managerial positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for comprehensive credit risk management for Uncapped's small business lending portfolio, covering all aspects from start to finish.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Credit Risk policies and credit assessment processes, including the creation of risk models, scoring systems, and underwriting criteria.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to ensure risk management initiatives are aligned with business goals.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed risk reports to executive leadership, the board, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement effective loss mitigation strategies that deliver robust performance, scale with portfolio needs, and are cost-effective.
  • Optimise the risk-return profile through strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to implement risk management initiatives.
  • Foster strong leadership within the team and focus on building a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • You have at least 10 years of experience in credit risk management roles within the fintech or banking industry, focusing on the consumer or SME lending sector, with at least 5 years in managerial positions.
  • Business Acumen: You possess strong knowledge of business processes with a comprehensive operational perspective of financial institutions.
  • Track Record: You have a proven history of developing and implementing highly analytical credit risk strategies and a deep understanding of credit risk modelling, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Analytical Skills: You are proficient in statistical analysis, algorithm development, and state-of-the-art data science tools and methodologies (experience with advanced machine learning techniques is a plus).
  • Tech Orientation: You are familiar with emerging technologies and their impact on risk management in the fintech space.
