Position Overview

We are pleased to present a rewarding opportunity for a Psychological Support Assistant within our specialized dementia care unit. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals, including fellow Psychological Support Assistants and a Clinical Psychologist. This unit is committed to providing tailored services to individuals experiencing dementia-related psychological and behavioral challenges, as well as offering support to their families and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

The Psychological Support Assistant will play a vital role in assisting with psychological evaluations, comprehensive assessments, and the development of care strategies aimed at addressing the unique needs of each individual. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments and interventions, utilizing various psychological tools and techniques under the guidance of a qualified Psychologist.
  • Gathering and analyzing information to contribute to the formulation of care plans for individuals with dementia.
  • Engaging in indirect support work, including facilitating meetings with clients and their support networks, as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Assisting in the creation of psychologically informed frameworks to enhance the quality of care provided.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation related to client care and safety plans.
  • Participating in the coordination and execution of therapeutic groups and training initiatives.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of care practices and the overall well-being of clients.
  • Attending and actively participating in multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Supporting the implementation of evidence-based psychological interventions.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development and supervision sessions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A minimum of a 2:1 Honours degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership with the British Psychological Society.
  • Relevant clinical and research experience.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
  • Basic understanding of research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of the application of psychological principles in health care contexts.
