Attendance Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Attendance Officer to join our team at a fantastic Girls School in Barnet, North London. The School has a great reputation for staff well-being and has a happy, driven, and dynamic workforce.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contact parents to discuss attendance and punctuality issues
  • Notify the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead of any concerns regarding individual pupil attendance
  • Respond to pupil requests for leave during the school term
  • Monitor the attendance of most vulnerable students
  • Meet with school staff, pupils, and parents to establish the reasons for non-attendance/poor punctuality and agree a plan with strategies and timescales to tackle the issues
  • Manage the process of addressing poor attendance
  • Follow up referrals relating to school attendance in accordance with the attendance policy
  • Communicate with parents/carers or local authority as required
Requirements:
  • Experience in attendance, data entry, and analysis
  • Prior knowledge and understanding of SIMS
  • Good all-round knowledge of the workings of an attendance office
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and demonstrate resilience, motivation, and commitment to high standards of work
