About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Specialist Nurse for Intravenous Access to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and leading the development of intravenous access services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the intravenous access service, ensuring that patients receive safe and effective care.
  • Develop and implement policies and guidelines for intravenous access, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and standards, ensuring that they are evidence-based and aligned with national guidelines.
  • Lead education and development programs for healthcare staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement innovative practice, improving patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects, ensuring that they are aligned with the centre's research strategy.
  • Participate in clinical audit, evaluating the effectiveness of intravenous access services and identifying areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or evidence of working at that level, including history taking and clinical examination of patients.
  • Registered General Nurse, currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
  • Teaching/Mentorship qualification.
  • Substantial experience of managing intravenous access issues, including central venous catheters and PICCs.
  • Ability to work across professional boundaries, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
